Rock The Bells feat. Wu Tang Clan and Rage Against The Machine 8.11.07

Even though I hate the Glen Helen Pavilion in San Bernandino, California with a passion, I still went to the Rock the Bells hip hop festival. And despite all the inconveniences that venue provides like 105 degree weather (summertime only), over-crowded, trash everywhere, parking a mile away, and traffic getting in and out of the venue (2 to 3 hour wait if you stay till the show ends), I still manage to have a good time with the help from my first musical love - HIP HOP. Oh hip hop, how I love thee. Helping to bring my first love to my ears were sick performances from Black Star, The Roots, Nas, and Cypress Hill. Wu-Tang Clan was a huge delight to see perform all together. However, the performance was moderate. The Clan tends to have 9 guys yeling into the microphone at the same time, which kills it. Yet, Rage Against The Machine gave a fuckin' great performance with a lot energy and a wonderful encore that was better than their performance at Coachella 2007.

I almost forgot about the Nocturnal Festival this Saturday, Sept. 29th!

Goddamn this weekend is going to be insane in Los Angeles! I almost forgot about the Nocturnal Festival this Saturday too. Go hit this up if you're a fan of the Chemical Brothers (live set) and Paul Van Dyke. This event will be off the hook. Hit up www.nocturnalfestival.com for more info and ticket prices and location. Peace and have mad fun this weekend.

Super Sucka Free Sunday on Sept. 30!

This weekend is going to be off the hook. This Super Sucka Free Sunday is a double header. After you get your goodies at Nocturnal, the Neighborhood Fesitval, or the Swerve Festival on Saturday come party with my crew and I at Creme de-la Creme at the Standard Downtown from 1 PM to 7 PM. This event is FREE with RSVP at www.going.com. Next go hit up the Do-Over at Crane's Hollywood Tavern from 2 PM to 2 AM. This event is also FREE! Don't hesitate this Sunday. Just do it!

My Sister's Wedding Is Tomorrow...

...I hope all goes well without any drama, which I sure it will. Tomorrow will be fun. We had the rehearsal today at the Skirball Center where the wedding will take place, and that went well. Then we had dinner and drinks after the rehearsal, and everyone was in a good mood...thank god! I'll post pics from the event later next week.

The Neighborhood Festival on Sat. Sept. 29th in Los Angeles

The Neighborhood Festival is every hipsters wet dream...well music-wise anyways. This event takes place at Exposition Park and features almost every dope hipster music act you can find around the world...haha. I laugh, but I'm one of the many people who will be going to this event because I believe electro music, rather if it's electro-rock, electro-hip hop, or electro-house is the new underground that's slowly, but surely making its way to the mainstream. Right now electro music is at it's zenith of creativity. And the Neighborhood Festival is the best place to hear that dope creativity blasting into your eardrum. Even though I recommend this event, it's not cheap. The price for a ticket is fuckin' $50, which I find ridiculous (fuck you Steve Aoki!) The only reason why I'm going is because I was able to score a ticket for half price. Otherwise, I would be going to see Bonde do Role at the Echo and the Echo Plex for FREE. That event is the best alternative for a great time if you want to play it cheap and not go to the Neighborhood Festival for $50.

Swerve Festival on Sept. 28th, 29th, and 30th in Los Angeles

He's an event I highly recommend checking out as a alternative to the Neighborhood Festival. The Swerve Festival is a film, music, and art fesitval happening this weekend mostly in the Los Feliz, Silver Lake, and Echo Park areas of Los Angeles. From what I understand this event is basically FREE. As part of the Swerve Festival, Check Yo' Ponytail is having a FREE event as well at the Echo and the Echo Plex featuring those crazy kids from Brazil Bonde do Role, with other performances by LA Riots and Toxic Avenger. This is a sure way to save your money and still have a great time. Bonde do Role are amazing live! For more info on the Swerve Festival check out http://www.swervefestival.com/.

Girl Talk at the Echo Plex on Fri. Sept. 28, 2007

The Man...

...the Myth

...the Legend.

Girl Talk

Girl Talk will be performing this Friday, Sept. 28, 2007 at the Echo Plex in Echo Park, CA. If you haven't seen and haven't heard his sets, I highly recommend checking out this animated beat conductor as he mashes in every dance genre of music from hip hop, electro, disco, rock, top 40, and 80s pop music all into one mix, while rocking out on stage. It's definitely a must-see if you haven't seen him before.

Sucka Free Sundays @ the Do-Over 8.5.07

If you haven't heard of Sucka Free Sundays by now, well now you know. When my friends and I go out and party on Sundays we call it "Sucka Free Sundays". SFS originally started at a house music event called EM Sunday at the Hollywood Canteen and a hip hop music event called the Do-Over at Crane's Hollywood Tavern last summer in 2006. Over the year, the SFS crew have continued to party at EM Sunday and the Do-Over, but ventured to other Sunday party events at the Standard Hotel and Little Radio Warehouse in Downtown Los Angeles, and DEEP at the Vanguard in Hollywood. The pics above were taken at the Do-Over when our good friend Erin's sister Caitlin came to L.A. to visit. As you can see from the pics that Sunday was outta control...haha!

"M.I.A.'s coming back with power, power!"

...and she wasn't kidding when I quote this line from her opening track Bamboo Banger. Maya Arulpragasam a.k.a. M.I.A. avoids the sophomore slump to every music critic's delight with her new album Kala (named after her mother). An album fused with third-world beats, rhythms, and percussions from the Caribbean, Africa, India, and Australia, M.I.A. continues express her political views through electro-dance tracks that spark your mind and your feet on the dancefloor. The real credit for this albums extraordinary sound is the U.S. government, who denied M.I.A. a work visa to make the album with hip hop producer Timbaland. M.I.A. decided to make the album with English producer Switch and fellow producer/friend Diplo instead, and travel to England, Jamaica, and Australia to record the album there. And the result is a masterpiece of songs like Bird Flu, Boyz, Jimmy, $20, Down Water, and Paper Planes. This album definitely deserves a Grammy nomination next year.

My First Official Blog

Welcome to the [A] Proxy Gallery. This will be my first official entry on my blog site. I started this blog after I deleted my MySpace account earlier this month. I used my MySpace account mostly to display my digital photos and videos of my friends and I at parties, events, shows, concerts, etc. I also used it to post bulletins and commentary on films and music. Thus, I started this blog site to convey all my current pictures, and to post commentary on films, music, concerts, and shows. Anything that deals with entertainment I will post a comment about. Even though I have a 9 to 5 job, I will try to update this blog everyday as much as possible. Please feel free post any comments and feedback on the subjects I blog. Thank you and enjoy.
